But at home, you're not designing a 747.that said, I was able to draw up a house, but it struggled all the way home. I think it's not great at making drawings or Assemblies with a large number of parts. It can import and export a number of relevant formats including DXF, STEP and STL so it can talk AutoCAD, and it can talk Solidworks as well as Blender. But man, the strengths are frankly awesome. Don't like some feature? They got developer discussion forums as well as user discussion forums. But if your question is "what is the best opensource CAD software for me, my answer is FreeCAD.
I use Solidworks at work and that thing is a piece of crap compared to NX. But would you please read the question and then tell us what "the best opensource CAD software is"? LOL, you walked right into it.
